The National Institute for Computational Sciences (NICS) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville is one of the leading high performance computing centers of excellence in the United States. Part of the Min H. Kao Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the center accomplishes its mission by facilitating transformational scientific discoveries. One of our goals is to provide scientists and researchers from around the world with leadership-class high-performance computing resources, facilities, and support.

Mission:
The National Institute for Computational Sciences (NICS) provides support for UT faculty and students and ORNL staff to perform transformative computational and data science and engineering research.

Vision:
NICS serves as the nexus of interdisciplinary, collaborative computational and data science and engineering research leveraging the unique capabilities of Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and the University of Tennessee. As such, NICS enables breakthroughs in grand challenge problems using computational and data science, and engineering.
